A wall devoted entirely to glass. The Lafayette is a site-specific installation composed of slab glass, sheet glass, and antiqued silver mirror, each element precisely measured, cut, and assembled to respond to the architecture it inhabits.
Construction
Every panel is measured, cut, and finished by hand. Developed from architectural drawings or detailed site surveys, each composition is carefully considered long before fabrication begins. Installed by the atelier's own team, every commission is unique to the space it inhabits.
Dimensions
There is no standard size. Each commission responds to its wall: its height, its breadth, its light. The largest installation to date spans four hundred square feet across a seventy-foot wall.
A composition of slab glass, sheet glass, and large-format mirror plates, the installation relies on no visible metal framework. Instead, concealed structural fixings are carefully integrated into the architecture, allowing the materiality of the glass to speak for itself.
Individual panels should be cleaned with a soft, dry cloth or a lightly dampened lint-free cloth. Avoid abrasive products, ammonia-based cleaners, and excessive moisture, particularly around panel joints. The silvered antiqued mirror finish may continue to evolve over time, a characteristic inherent to the material. Detailed care instructions are provided upon handover for each commission.
Every Lafayette commission begins with a site survey or a review of architectural drawings. Lead times vary according to scale and complexity, typically ranging from 14–20 weeks from design approval to installation. A detailed project schedule is provided at the time of commission.
